The Denis Hurley Centre is run the by the Denis Hurley Centre Trust.

The Trust

  • The Trust was created by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Durban and Cardinal Wilfrid Napier, Archbishop of Durban in 2010. He is also also Chair of the DHC Patrons.
  • The registration number of the Trust is IT 544/ 2010/ PMB.
  • The Trust is registered for VAT with the number 4720266362
  • The Trust is registered as a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO 930034301) and as a Not-for-Profit Organisation (NPO 84819).
  • The registered address of the Trust is that of the Centre.
  • The Trust reports to the Parish Council (PPC) of the Emmanuel Cathedral Parish and ultimately to the Cardinal and the Archdiocese of Durban
  • The late Paddy Kearney was responsible for establishing the Trust. He was also the inaugural Chair of the Trustees until his death in November 2018. We remain grateful for his inspiration and wisdom.
  • The Trust enjoys a close relationship with its neighbour Emmanuel Cathedral whose Administrator (or Dean) is ex-officio a member of the Board of Trustees and of the Management Committee.

The Board of Trustees

The Chair of the Board of Trustees is Mrs Ursula Collings. Click here for a list of Trustees.

Patrons

To oversee the vision of the Denis Hurley Centre Trust and to help it develop, a board of patrons has been assembled which also reflect the wide range of interests of Archbishop Hurley; Catholic, ecumenical, interfaith, the judiciary, arts, academia. The Patrons do not form a decision-making structure for the Denis Hurley Centre but instead provide input, insights and contacts, formally and informally. Click here for a list of Patrons.

Management

The day-to-day running of the Centre is delegated by the Trust to the Director, Raymond Perrier, who in turn chairs a Management Committee made up the co-ordinators of the various projects, key support staff and representatives from the Trust and from the PPC. Click here for a list of the members of the Management Committee.

Advisory groups

The individual projects, in turn, are assisted in their work by Advisory Groups which bring together different stakeholders to offer advice related to the work of the project (healthcare, welfare, employment, refugees, fundraising). If you have expertise in any of these areas and would like to contribute to one of the Advisory Groups please contact the Director on raymond@denisurleycentre.org.

NB. The Refugee Pastoral Care programme, while a partner of the Denis Hurley Centre, is a Commission of the Archdiocese of Durban, reporting through those structures to the Cardinal.
